During my time at Exeter College of Art and Design David Harris, one of our lecturers, told us that every time we drew some type, we should improve upon it. Rather frustrating when you are trying to accurately draw 12 point Garamond or Plantin. What he meant was that we should always be growing in our understanding of and love for type.
Since then I have tried to follow that through in all my work. I have a great love for typography, and I enjoy crafting type in my layouts. My classic design training helped a great deal in this respect. I was fortunate enough to train on lead and phototypesetting along with printing and photographic techniques, and have used this knowledge in my design thinking ever since.
I now have an excellent knowledge of typography, print, and production processes. I have a good eye for detail and am highly motivated to produce the best results. I am experienced in interpreting briefs, liaising closely with clients and providing creative solutions to deadline and budget.
